Job Summary:
The Forensic Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the adherence to quality standards and protocols within the forensic science department. This role involves evaluating and auditing laboratory processes, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and best practices. The Forensic Quality Assurance Specialist will contribute to the overall quality improvement efforts and help maintain the integrity of forensic analysis and examination results.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular quality audits of forensic laboratory processes, procedures, and practices to verify compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines.
2. Review and evaluate laboratory reports, records, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established protocols.
3. Identify areas of non-compliance or potential improvement in laboratory operations and recommend corrective actions to the Forensic Quality Manager.
4. Provide guidance and training to laboratory staff on quality standards, protocols, and best practices to ensure accurate and reliable forensic analysis.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, standard operating procedures, and quality control measures.
6. Monitor and track the implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures to address identified quality issues or non-conformities.
7. Assist in the preparation of documentation, reports, and presentations related to quality assurance activities for internal and external stakeholders.
8. Stay updated on the latest advancements, regulations, and industry trends related to forensic science quality assurance.
9. Participate in external quality assessment programs and inspections to maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory standards.
10. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality assurance activities and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a forensic laboratory or quality assurance role.
3. In-depth knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices, and regulatory requirements within the forensic science field.
4. Familiarity with accreditation standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and knowledge of relevant forensic science accreditation bodies (e.g., ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board, Forensic Quality Services, etc.).
5. Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex information and data.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
7. Proficient in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software applications.
8. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
9. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
10. Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
